Xuxa

She was born Maria da Graça Meneghel, on March 27, 1963, in the Brazilian town of Santa Rosa. Her brother gave here the nickname Xuxa. At the age of seven she moved with her family to Rio de Janerio.

In 1989 she established the Xuxa Meneghel Foundation, which feeds, shelters, and educates impoverished children. She also spearheaded a campaign that resulted in 90% of all Brazilian children being immunized against polio .

She had a network TV show here in the USA that lasted only one season . It survived in re-runs for a while on cable TV , but then dissapeared without a trace.
